Common questions

The scanner shows "Scanning…" and never names the plant

Make sure the plant fills a good part of the frame and is well lit. Plant101 deliberately stays quiet rather than guessing wrong when confidence is low. Leaves and flowers identify better than bare stems.

The name looks wrong

Tap the label — Plant101 then double-checks the identification against the PlantNet botanical database (when online) and shows the confirmed species with its confidence. If it's still wrong, email us a photo; corrections improve the app for everyone.

I'm not getting watering reminders

Reminders are scheduled when you add a plant to My Garden. Check iOS Settings → Notifications → Plant101 is allowed. Deleting a plant cancels its reminders.

Is the toxicity badge medical advice?

No. Badges are informational, sourced conservatively from established references. If a person or pet has eaten a plant, contact a doctor, vet, or poison control immediately — never rely on an app identification.
